Salvation
What Must We Do To Be Saved?
We must acknowledge in our heart, confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and we need Him to be our Lord and Savior to save us from the penalty of sin and eternal death.
"For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. Romans 10:9-10
"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?" John 11:25-26
We must believe that Jesus died for our sins and was raised three days later.
"For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. Romans 10:9-10
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8
We must repent of our sins.
"No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will also perish." Luke 13:1-5
"But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts. I John 1:9-10
We must believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
"For the Father himself loves you dearly because you love me and believe that I came from God. Yes, I came from the Father into the world, and now I will leave the world and return to the Father." John 16:27
We must obey the Gospel.
"Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus. Romans 6:16
Salvation through Jesus Christ brings us into a relationship of peace with God.
Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Romans 5:1
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
The biblical method of salvation is freely given by the grace of God and is gained through faith in Jesus Christ and him alone. It is more than reciting a prayer.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Ephesians 2:8
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12
Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. John 14:6
There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12
